Website Maintenance
About Website Maintenance
Maintenance of your website is the job of your webmaster and is included in your contract and/or managed web hosting agreement with us. Included are patches, backups, and software updates (sometimes upgrades, too) that are necessary to keep your website both secure and functional for you and your visitors.
Most website maintenance happens on the fly, though occasionally a website has to be taken offline to achieve them. They can happen once a month or even once a day. Usually you won't even be aware that they've happened.
We don't usually notify website owners when we do maintenance unless we know that their website will have to be taken offline for longer than a few minutes. When a website needs to be taken offline, we'll schedule that maintenance window during low traffic times, usually in the middle of the night on weekends unless your website traffic peaks at that time. Should you desire to be notified of maintenance, we can arrange that, of course.

The difference between a website updates, website maintenance, and website upgrades:
- updates refresh content;
- upgrades modernize the design, the code, and/or programming software that delivers the content;
- maintenance patches, updates, and/or upgrades the software, but may not necessarily modernize it.
