Website Design & Services: Terms of Service in Plain Speak and in Legalese

DLKeur website design, signature series website designMy terms of service come down to this: If you're legal, ethical, honorable, and pay your bills on time, there won't be any reason for me to terminate our agreement.

If you decide you want to terminate your agreement with me, and you are a Client in good standing as per the above, you give me 14 days notice, pay the last invoice, and, within 30 days, you get your domain transferred to where and who you stipulate, and your website mailed to you on a disc and/or a download link so you can install your website somewhere else if you want to.

If for some reason I or one of my staff decides that we need to terminate our service with you (...like someone runs over me with a truck, an earthquake swallows my house with me in it...), we'll give you 14 days notice and, within 30 days, transfer your domain to wherever you stipulate, and ship your website to you via mail and/or download link.

The rest of the TOS is simply legal jargon designed by attorneys to satisfy (at least some of) the various statutes concerning websites, clients, and service providers--all standard fare (the "lite" version of standard legal fare, that is, so not really standard at all, since I prefer plain, K.I.S.S. (Keep It Short & Simple) contracts.

I treat my Clients the way I myself enjoy being treated--fairly and equitably. In other words, the Golden Rule applies to all parties. :D
